The Estero Island Historic Society cottage is open to visitors on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, October through May.
Located at the foot of the bridge near the bridge tenders cabin, Snug Harbor began in the 1950s as a small wooden structure with docks, which became a popular place to stop for ice, cold beer, and a sandwich. Soon it was a place to view the "catch of the day" from charter boats, as seen above with the "Madam Queen". Later, it became a place to return for a meal, as local shrimp was added to the "fresh catch" menu at the Snug Harbor Marina.
Today, Snug Harbor remains a popular restaurant offering fresh shrimp and fish caught by the owner's own boats. Although it suffered damage in the storm, the restaurant quickly made repairs and is now open offering a full menu.
