A Short History of Fort Myers Beach by Barrett and Adelaide Brown

The Barrett Browns were publishers of the Beach Bulletin, which, for many years, was the main source of news on Fort Myers Beach. They published this history in 1965 and it was reprinted by the EIHS in 2000. The text is a shorter version of Rolfe Schell’s book, “The History of Fort Myers Beach” which was published in. The book takes the reader from the homesteaders and early settlers through the first subdivisions, the roads and bridges, hurricanes, tourism, hotels, schools, churches, the library and much more.
